Hi I'm MATTHEW CAO

I’m an undergraduate at UC Berkeley, pursuing a B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology (emph. molecular therapeutics) and a minor in Data Science (emph. computational methods in genomics and genetics). I aim to bridge the gap between biology and data science, so I can explore the intricacies of life sciences through both experimental and data-driven lenses. My experiences encompass wet lab research, computational biology tools like AlphaFold and ChimeraX, and data analysis with machine learning techniques to genomic datasets.

I founded Zien Tutoring, a service I started in my (highschool) senior year summer to help students apply to college. My application resources have reached over 1000 students across the local school district. In university, I continued to tutor to help students succeed in Berkeley's various weeder classes: Chem 1A, Physics 8A/8B, CS 61A/61B, and (organic chemistry) CHEM 3A/3B. Additional resources I created and organized has impacted over 1500 students. If you are interested, click on the email icon below, and add "Zien Tutoring" in the subject line.

Web development is also a big part of my life as both a coding and art medium I have enjoyed since middle school. I currently am web designer webmaster of my acapella group Drawn to Scale A Cappella and of my public health club Junior Care Clinic.

Academics aside, I enjoy playing video games with my friends (League of Legends fan), watching cat videos , and baking brownies.
